The Royal Crest Lifecare Group Inc. and related companies ("The Royal Crest Group") were adjudged bankrupt on January 10, 2003, Ernst and Young Inc. was appointed by the Ontario Superior Court of Justice (Commercial Division) as the Trustee in bankruptcy (the "Trustee") of the Royal Crest Group.

Since the Trustee's appointment, Extendicare (Canada) Inc. ("Extendicare"), one of the country's leading operators and managers of long-term care facilities has managed the day-to-day operations of the Royal Crest Group on behalf of the Trustee. Extendicare brings over 30 years of long-term care management experience into our homes.

Since assuming control of the Royal Crest Group, the Trustee has invested over $17.3 million in capital improvements with an additional $2.5 million planned for 2008, thus significantly improving the quality of the resident care and accommodations. Such investments include the purchase of additional medical equipment, new lounge and dining room furniture, pillows, mattresses and bedroom sets, bathing facilities and repairs and cosmetic upgrades to the buildings.

In addition, with Extendicare's direct assistance, we have provided staff with extensive additional training in resident's rights, infection control, skin and wound care, pleasurable dining and professional standards for long-term care. Training is considered to be of paramount importance to our management team and nursing staff who continually implement a variety of training initiatives and best practices for continued improvement

The Royal Crest Group is currently being marketing for sale. We are committed to working together with the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care to ensure an appropriate party is selected to purchase the homes and continue their operations. We will ensure that the transition of any home to a qualified purchaser is as seamless as possible fore its staff, residents and families, without any compromise to our quality of care or service.
